Methodology
We convert every plan's included usage to minutes of speech using a flat assumption of 1,000 characters per minute, applied identically across providers so the comparison stays apples-to-apples. This is a simplification — actual character-to-minute ratios depend on the voice model, language, and pacing settings used at generation time.
Where a provider meters usage in "generation hours" instead of characters (Murf), we use their own published hours-per-plan figures directly rather than converting through characters.
Plans priced only on annual billing are noted as such; monthly-billing prices are used by default for comparability. Enterprise and custom-quote tiers are excluded from the calculator because no public per-unit price exists to convert.
Why trust these numbers
Every source link in the table points to the provider's own pricing or affiliate terms page, not a third-party summary. We re-check these figures periodically; the "last checked" date at the top of the page reflects the most recent pass.
A note on PlayHT
PlayHT is not listed here because it appears to no longer operate: its own affiliate portal now reads "this affiliate program is no longer active," and multiple independent reports describe Meta acquiring the team in mid-2025 and shutting the product down, with user accounts and data deleted at the end of that year. We're leaving it out rather than publish pricing for a product that may no longer exist.
A note on WellSaid and Speechify
WellSaid's pricing is custom/quote-based with no public self-serve tiers, so there's no per-unit rate to convert. Speechify's flagship plan is flat-rate unlimited listening rather than metered by minute or character, so it doesn't fit this calculator's model at all — its closer comparable product for voiceover creation exists but its usage caps per tier aren't independently confirmed yet. Both are listed for their affiliate terms only until that changes.
